He was born on Feb. 8, 1933, to Eugene and Lena (Duncan) Baker in Chestnut, Ill. On Sept. 17, 1955, he married Dorothy E. "Dottie" Bodine in Mount Vernon, Ill.
Donald was a U.S. Navy Veteran of the Korean War, was an electrical engineer in the dairy division of Ladish/Tri Clover Company Kenosha, Wisconsin, was a member and deacon of White Swan Baptist Church, was an avid volunteer instrumental in passing of the city and county 911 program, was a Relay for Life member of the American Cancer Society for 7 years, was Senior Saint in 2003. Donald and his wife Dottie volunteered for the Field Township Crime Watch and were the first downstate honorees recognized by the Illinois State Triad Conference for Senior Citizens.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; one son, Michael (Pamela) Baker of Kenosha; two daughters, Rhonda Baker of St. Louis, Mo., Sonja (Michael) Corkins of Randall, Wis.; 13 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; two sisters, Phyllis Dykes of Mount Vernon, Ill., Lucy Baker of Texico, Ill.; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Robert and Harold Baker; one sister, Margaret Dare; and two brothers-in-law, James Dare and Richard Dykes.
A funeral service was held on Monday, June 8 at Hughey Funeral Home. Interment at Jordan Chapel Cemetery in Jefferson County, Ill.
