Helen Marie Henritta Abel was born in Leaf Valley Township on July 19, 1890, the daughter of Richard and Wilhelmina Dittberner Ziesemer. When Helen was a young girl the Ziesemer family moved to Miltona Township where she attended school and grew to womanhood. Helen was confirmed in 1904 at the South Effington Church.
On December 23, 1913 she was united in marriage to Grover Abel at Detroit Lakes, Minnesota. After their marriage they made their home at Dennison, Minnesota until 1933 when they moved to Alexandria Township which has been their residence for the past thirty-seven years.
Mrs. Abel passed away April 14, 1970 at the Douglas County Hospital at Alexandria, Minnesota at the age of 79 years. She is survived by her husband, Grover, four sisters and one brother: Miss Olga Ziesemer of Miltona, Mrs. Tillie Laske of Menasha, Wisconsin, Mrs. Frances Hertwig of Miltona, Mrs. Frieda Diedrich and Richard Ziesemer of Alexandria. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters and five brothers.
Funeral services were held April 19, 1970 at Zion Lutheran Church in Alexandria, Rev. K. K. Hill officiating. Interment was at St. Paul Cemetery, West Miltona, Minn. Pallbearers were Clifford Millan, Kenneth Millan, Everett Millan, Edlard Hertwig, Earl Mittage and Larry Diedrich.
