Theresa Lagasse, 82, of Stanardsville, passed away Sunday, June 7, 2009, at her residence, surrounded by her family.

She was born on November 20, 1926, in Canada. Theresa was the daughter of the late Ed Levesque and Margaret Monroe Levesque.

Theresa was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Ned Joseph Lagasse; one daughter, Cecile Britton; one brother, Charley Levesque; a son-in-law, Alton Dubay Sr.; a great- granddaughter, Cara Leigh Searcy.

She is survived by her daughters, Irene Dubay of Ruckersville, Charleen Norton, also of Ruckersville, Linda Griffin and her husband, Bruce, of Stanardsville; son-in-law, John Britton; one brother, Benoit Levesque: nine grandchildren, Carol Corbin and her husband, Robin, Tammy Norton, Alton Dubay, Jr. and his wife, Norma, Lisa Searcy and her husband, Wil, Tina Safley and her husband, Jim, Rodney Britton, Theresa Dubay, Jeffrey Griffin and his wife, Amy, and Joe Britton; 12 great-grandchildren, Joshua Ruffner, Timothy Harris, Courtney Searcy, Katie Safley, Sara Safely, Jud Searcy, Shyan Dubay, Jonathan Britton, Cade Griffin, Owen Griffin, Addyson Griffin and Tyler Corbin; and many other loving family members and friends.

Theresa was a lifetime member of the Greene County Rescue Squad and a member of Shepherd of the Hills Catholic Church. She was an active member in the Greene County Jefferson Area Board for Aging.

"Mai Mai" was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great- grandmother. She left a lasting impression with all that met her. Mai Mai will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

The family will receive friends from 7 until 9 p.m. Wednesday, June 10, 2009, at the Ryan Funeral Home.

A funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 11, 2009, at Shepherd of the Hills Catholic Church in Ruckersville, Virginia, with Father Alex Credo officiating. Interment will follow at Holly Memorial Gardens.

Ryan Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
