Ray C. Planty, 77, Dunnellon, Fla., a summer resident of Morristown and formerly of Ogdensburg, was pronounced dead Thursday in the emergency room at Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center.
Mr. Planty was a truck driver for C&E Trucking, Newell Manufacturing Co. and, most recently, Acco, retiring in 1985.
He enjoyed winters in Florida, summers at his camp on the St. Lawrence River, hunting and fishing.
Born April 28, 1925, in Potsdam, son of George and Eva Lawrence Planty , he attended Potsdam and Parishville schools.
He served in the Army during World War II in Germany and was honorably discharged in 1947.
He married Dolores M. Ross on March 30, 1948, at Notre Dame Church with Monsignor A.D. Charbonneau officiating.
Surviving besides his wife are a daughter, three sons, seven grandchildren and five great- grandchildren.
Five brothers, Gordon, George, Thomas, Charles and Paul, and three sisters, Evelyn Gladle, Betty Vallance and Doris Lacy, died before him.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Fox-McLellan Funeral Home with the Rev. F. James Shurtleff, pastor of Notre Dame Church, officiating. Entombment with military honors will be in Foxwood Memorial Park.
