1900–1905∼Plainview News obituary: Mrs. William Stitch passed away at the home of her son, Matt, at Whitewater Falls on Tuesday morning, Jan. 12 at 3 o'clock. Infirmities of old age impaired her health and illness from pneumonia the past two weeks caused her death.
Anna Nienow was born in Germany, June 27, 1858. she came to America with her parents when a child. The family settled near Elba which vicinity was her home until about 20 years ago when they sold their farm here and took land at Ladner, S.D. Mr. Stitch died there August 18, 1929. In recent years she has made her home with her son, Matt.
Her marriage to William Stitch occurred in October, 1879, at Winona.
Mrs. Stitch is survived by the following children; Matthew Stitch, Whitewater Falls; Mrs. Merlon Cowdes, Plainview; Mrs. Peter Mauer, Karinen, S.D.; William C. Stitch, Ladner, S.D. and Mrs. John Grundhauser, Dickerson, N.D. There are fourteen grandchildren and three great grandchildren. There are also one brother and three sisters, Henry Nienow, Minot. N.D.; Mrs. Amelia Marshman, Plainview; Mrs. Augusta Schlinck, Utica and Mrs. Bertha Labiskey, Plainview. One son Donald and one daughter Sarah preceded their mother in death. One sister, Mrs. Charles Bartsch and one brother Charles Nienow preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be held this afternoon at the Lutheran church, Rev. Schoewe officiating. Burial will be made in the Fairwater cemetery. The pall bearers will be Roy Marshman, Mat Schlink, Herbert Bartsch, Albert Bartsch and Charles Lubiskey.
