Mrs. Emma Catherine Staehli, 82, Soldier, died Friday at a Topeka hospital where she was admitted July 27. She previously had been a patient at an Onaga hospital.


She was born Oct. 16, 1891, at Bern, the daughter of John and Rose Freel. She lived at Corning many years and had been a resident of Soldier the past 26 years.


She was a member of the Christian Church at Soldier.


She was married in 1913, to Fred Staehli. He died in 1953.


Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Cleo Hill, and Mrs. Catherine Cormier, both at Soldier; two sons, Arnold Staehli, Soldier, and Carl Staehli, Holton; a sister, Mrs. Edna Hill, Soldier; a brother, Perry Freel, Waterville, five grandchildren and a great-grandchild.


Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the Christian Church at Soldier. Burial will be in the Soldier Cemetery.


Mercer Funeral Home at Holton is in charge of arrangements.
