The Little River Monitor
Obituary
Amanda L. McClanahan was born in Robertson county, Kentucky, November 30, 1833, and departed this life from the home of her daughter, Mrs. Thomas Snedeger, in Little River, Kansas, September 15, 1915, aged 81 years, 8 months and 15 days.
She grew to womanhood in the county where she was born, and was there united in marriage to Mr. A. Ashbrook in the year 1855. To this union two children were born - Mrs. Thomas Snedeger of Little River, Kans., and Mr. G. C. Ashbrook of Skidmore, Mo. She was also united in marriage to Mr. Malcolm Wood of the same county in Kentucky in 1874, and to this union one child was born - Mrs. Steven Beverlin of Wray, Colo.
She was left a widow the second time in 1893, Mr. Wood having died that year.
Beside those mentioned above who are now living, and a sister - Mrs. Ellen Ashcraft of Langley, Kans. - she leaves to mourn her departure nine grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, and a large number of friends.
Our sister united with the Methodist church in Kentucky forty-one years ago, and those who knew her best say she was a good Christian woman. While she was lying on her bed during her last sickness she said she was ready to leave this world in peace.
We say good-bye here, hoping to meet in the land of the unsetting sun.
Funeral services, conducted by Rev. George Watts, were held at the Methodist church in Little River Thursday afternoon, after which interment was made in Bean cemetery.
