Henry Jantzen was born April 29, 1908 to John and Pauline (Noetzelman) Jantzen in South Effington Township west of Parkers Prairie. Following his marriage on November 14, 1934 to Elda Hausmann, the couple lived at Foxhome, Minnesota and later farmed in the West Miltona area. They were the parents of 5 children. Throughout his life, Henry enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing cards. Elda died in June of 1988 and a year later Henry moved to the Miltona apartments where he made his residence until his death.
Henry died March 22, 1992 at the Douglas County Hospital. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Elda, sisters; Olga Grothen, Emma Jahnke and Laura Jahnke and 2 grandsons: Randall Jantzen and Todd Lassanske. Surviving Henry are 2 sons: Delmer of Alexandria and Roger of Parkers Prairie; 3 daughters: Ardeen Lassanske of St. Charles, Missouri, Janice Ash of West St. Paul, Carol Jean Walz of Eden Prairie; 26 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.
Funeral services were held March 26, 1992 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in West Miltona with Rev. Donald Erickson officiating. Pallbearers were Adam Ash, Jeffrey Walz, Chester Jantzen, Duane Jantzen, Rodney Jantzen, Ryan Jantzen and Wayne Lassanske. Honorary pallbearers were Lawrence Gesell, Gilbert Grothen, George Beckman, Kenneth Henning, Edwin Wilke, Julius Glaeseman, Sy Gesell, Danny Nack and Marvin Olson. Interment was in St. Paul's Lutheran Church Cemetery. Arrangements with Anderson Funeral Home of Alexandria.
