INJURIES PROVE FATAL
Joplin Man Plunged from Shoal Creek Cliff
Merl Carr, 37, Joplin man who fell from a steep cliff Saturday afternoon on the west bank of Shoal creek, died at 3:15 o'clock yesterday afternoon in St John's hospital in Joplin of injuries suffered in the fall.
A native of Girard, Kas., Carr liad lived 26 years in Joplin, coming there from Oswego.
Graveside services will be held at 10:30 o'clock Thursday morning in the Evergreen cemetery in Republic. The Rev. Al Smith of the First Methodist church of Republic will officiate. The body will be sent to Republic by Thornhill-Dillon mortuary of Joplin.
Surviving are two brothers, Arch B. Carr and J. H. Carr both Joplin, and two sisters Mrs. Avenclle Wade, north of Joplin, and Mrs. Dorothy Eichelberger, Joplin.

Merl Carr, Who Fell From Bluff, Dies
Graveside services for Merl Carr, 37-year-old Joplin man who died Monday afternoon of injuries suffered in a fall Sunday, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Evergreen Cemetery, Republic. Mr. Carr fell from a bluff along Shoal Creek, south of Joplin.
Mr. Carr, a resident of Joplin for 26 years, died at 3:15 p.m. Monday in. St, John's Hospital at Joplin where he was taken after the fall about 3 p.m. Sunday. The bluff Mr. Carr fell from is about one-half mile west of Redings Mill.
Rescuers removed Mr. Carr from the creek bank by boat to an ambulance on the opposite shore.
Mr. Carr was born March 2,1919, at Girard, Kan. He is survived by two brothers, Arch B. Carr of 1209 Roosevelt Ave., Joplin, and J. H Carr, of 2623 Joplin Ave., Joplin and two sisters, Mrs. Avanelle Wade, who lives north of Joplin and Mrs. Dorothy Elichelberger of 631 Ohio Ave., Joplin. The body will be sent to Republic by the Thornhill-Dillon mortuary.
