Richmond Climax Newspaper, dated Wednesday, Sept 12, 1894, page 3:

Robert Woodcock died in this city last Thursday, Sept 11th,
at the residence of his daughter, Mrs. C.E. Smith
at the age of 73 after an illness of eight years from
paralysis. The funeral occurred at the residence
Friday conducted by Rev. W.F. Smith and burial in the
Richmond cemetery.He leaves a wife and daughter and
three brothers, W.H, G.B, and W.W. Woodcock of Boyle
County who were here and attended the funeral.
Mr. Woodcock came to Kentucky from Virginia
when a young man and settled and married in Madison
County. His wife was Miss Amanda White, daughter of
Jeremiah White. He was a good business man and when
in the prime of life had accumulated quite a fortune
by farming and cattle trading. He was known far and
near for his kindness to the poor as he gave
unreservedly to the relief of the distressed and needy.
He was courteous and honorable in all his dealing, a true
friend and lovable companion and was held in high
esteem by even his chance acquaintances. He was a
member of the Christian church.
