Graveside services for Roy W. "Bud" Moore, 83, Lawrence, will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Silent City Cemetery in De Soto. Military honors will be conducted by the VFW Post 6654 of De Soto. A luncheon will follow the graveside service at the VFW in De Soto.

Mr. Moore died Friday, June 5, 2009, at Manor Care in Overland Park.

He was born March 25, 1926, in Lawrence, the son of Roy F. and Maude Augusta.

He was a Seaman 1st Class in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

He was a member of the VFW Post 6654 in De Soto.

He was self-employed as a painter, retiring in 1969.

Survivors include a daughter, Carol McEldowney, Overland Park; a son, Franklin Wayne Mestrezat, Fort Walton Beach, Fla.; a stepdaughter, Anita Arkeketa James, Lawrence; a sister, Virginia Boyd, Shawnee; 11 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a stepdaughter, Margaret Williams; and two sisters, Naomi Holland and Anna Lee Blackman.
