GLADEWATER - Services for Leamon Franklin Fenton, 72, of Liberty City, will be 2 p.m. Monday, June 8, 2009, at Liberty City First Baptist Church, with the Rev. Bruce Wells and Larry Gaines officiating. Burial with full military honors will be in the East Mountain Cemetery.

Born December 23, 1936, he entered into eternal rest on Thursday, June 4, 2009, at Hospice HomePlace in Tyler, Knowing that his last breath on earth was his first breath in Heaven with the Lord. He ended a battle of lung cancer.

A 1955 graduate of East Mountain High School, he attended East Texas Baptist University.

A veteran of the United States Army, having served the Vietnam War, he, in addition, served in Germany, Korea, Colorado and Fairbanks. Alaska.

He met Martha Unruh of North Dakota in Fairbanks, Alaska, where he was stationed at Fort Wainwright, and they were married on November 24, 1965, in Fairbanks Alaska. He loved the Lord and served as a greeter at First Baptist Church Liberty City.

A loving husband, father, grandfather and brother, he thoroughly enjoyed camping and RVing with his family and friends.

He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Martha Fenton of Liberty City; two daughters and son-in-law, Denise Elliott of Tyler and Tammy and Mike Baker of Overton; three precious granddaughters, Ashley Baker, Haven Elliott and Zoe Elliott; and one outstanding grandson, Nicholas Lee Baker, who shares Leamon's birthday; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Lonnie and Golda Fenton of Liberty City and Phillip and Melva Fenton of Palestine; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ebbie and Corine Fenton; sister, Frances Louise Gallant; three brothers, Claude Fenton, Russell Fenton and Jerry Fenton.
