Joseph Lowell Sanders 86, of Nixa, passed away on March 12, 2007, in the Neighborhoods at Quail Creek Nursing Home in Springfield. Mr. Sanders was born in Christian County on July 8, 1920 to Joseph William and Wilda (Payne) Sanders. Lowell and Georgia Owen were married in Springfield on May 1, 1941. Georgia preceded him in death in 2002. Lowell was also preceded in death by two brothers, Glenn and Roy Sanders, and a sister, Alene Conn. He is survived by his daughter, Lana, and her husband, Gordon Brown; an aunt, Lucy (Payne) Owen; and several nephews and nieces. Lowell served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was an engineer employed by the U.S. Jusice Department, Bureau of Prisons, for 21 years prior to retiring in 1978. The family would like to thank the staff at Quail Creek and St. John's Hospice for the care given and kindness shown to Lowell in his final days. In accordance with Lowell's wishes, there will be no funeral service and interment in the Payne Cemetery will be at a later date.
