"Asa McQueen, 79 died at the home of his son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. J.C. McQueen, 418 1/2 S. Union St Friday evening. Asa McQueen was a resident Fremont during his early life and came to the Grand Traverse region to make his home 35 years ago. He was a resident of the Williamsburg community for 25 years and for the past 10 years he had made his home most of the time with his son in the city.
Mrs. McQueen preceded him in death 12 years ago left to mourn their loss. Besides his son are one daughter, Mrs. Ralph Cook in the Lansing area. Two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. One brother Edwin of Muskegon, and one sister, Mrs. Jannie Weber for Toledo, Ohio. The body was taken to the Hibbard funeral home to remain until Monday. General services will be held in Fremont Tuesday afternoon, with burial in Clark's Cemetery."
