Robert" David Horton, 83, of Tifton died Thursday, August 15, 2013, at Tift Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 17, 2013, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. Rev. Ronny Vice will officiate with burial to follow in Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Kelltown. His grandsons, Charlie Horton, Richard Evers, Patrick Evers, Michael Hendley, Justin Hendley and James Baldree will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Friday, August 16, 2013, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Mr. Horton was born on October 26, 1929 in Tift County and was the son of William David Horton and Jewel Lorance Cobia Horton, both deceased. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Fannie Baldree Horton; one daughter, Mary Graham; one step-daughter, Amy Roberts; one son-in-law, Lonzo Evers; three brothers, Carl Eugene Horton and his wife, Dorothy, and A. H. Horton and infant Johnny Horton; one sister, infant Nina Horton; one brother-in-law, Spurley Farmer; two grandchildren, Robbie Bennett and Jamie Graham. He retired from Adcock Pecan Company, where he was a carpenter and maintenance technician. He was of the Baptist faith and loved to fish.
Mr. Horton is survived by his wife, Lavera Lindsey Horton of Tifton; two sons and daughters-in-law, Edward and Gail Horton and David and Sandy Horton, all of Tifton; three daughters and one son-in-law, Jean Horton of Tifton, Joyce Evers of Brookfield and Clara and Larry Warren of Enigma; one sister, Evelyn Horton Farmer of Tifton; one sister-in-law, Ella Mae Horton; eleven grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.
