Empress consort of Emperor Pedro II of Brazil.

A princess of the Two-Sicilies she married Pedro II in 1842. She encouraged cultural development in Brazil. During the coup she suffered a heart attack which weakened her health. Upon arriving in Portugal to begin living in exile she died. She was originally buried in the Pantheon of São Vicente de Fora. Her body was translated to the Imperial Mausoleum in Petropolis on December 5, 1939.
