John was the oldest son of George Bolsinger and Elizabeth Keener. He had nine siblings named as follows; Mary, George, Jacob, Christopher, Elizabeth, Conrad, Phillip, Catherine and Susannah. He married Elizabeth Higinbotham on 28 Jan 1802. Family lore has it that he was a color guard in the War of 1812. The flag that he carried was perserved in the family until carried away in the historic 1889 flood in Johnstown, Pennsylvania.
He and Elizabeth had five children. They were; Phoebe, William, George, John and James. He died in Menallen Township, Fayette Co. PA.
