Graveside rites for William Edward Eakins, 83, will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, September 8, 2011 at the Rubottom Cemetery, West of Marietta, conducted by Rev. David Gardner.

A time of visitation and support for family and friends will be from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Harvey-Douglas Funeral Home.

Son of the late John and Jessie (Plemons) Eakins, Bill was born June 5, 1928 at Rubottom, Oklahoma. He died Sunday, September 4, 2011, in an Ardmore convalescent home.

A resident of Southern Oklahoma all of his live he and Louise Oakman Solley were married February 25, 1992 at Lone Grove, Oklahoma. She preceded him in death January 21, 2003; his parents and nine sisters also preceded him in death.

Bill worked in the oil fields of Oklahoma as a ruff neck and a truck driver. Of Baptist faith, he enjoyed going to the Senior Citizens dances and was an avid Wahoo and Moon domino player.

Bill is survived by a sister Christine Williams, numerous nieces and nephews.
