GARRETT Myrtle Clara (Long) Garrett left this earth to be with her Lord 2/21/2000 at the age of 95. She was a native of Oklahoma and was born June 2, 1904 in Atwood, Oklahoma to Albert S. and Maggie (Allen) Long. She was married to Lem Garrett in Gerty, OK on Nov. 14, 1925. Myrtle was a retired educator, having received her B.S. degree in 1932 from East Central State Teacher's College, Ada, OK. She served as a teacher 41 years, teaching in Hughes and Seminole counties 24 years, and for the last17 years in Oklahoma County, teaching in Crutcho 10 years and the last 7 years in the Putnam City school system as a 4th grade teacher. Myrtle joined the Trinity Baptist Church, OKC, with her husband, Lem in 1952. She was a faithful member and lovedherchurch. She enjoyed children and worked in the Children's Sunday School Department 12 years. She also, belonged to the Senior Adult Choir and the W.M.U. (Women Missionary Union). She was a member of the Oklahoma County and State Retired Teacher's Association. She was a true inspiration to the many lives she touched and she shall be forever remembered in love and friendship by her family and many friends. Myrtle is survived by two nieces: Wanda June (Long) Terry of Shawnee, OK, & Imogene (Long)Dickinson of Bakersfield, CA; three nephews: Edwin C. Parmlee of Holdenville, OK; Bill Long and wife Mary of Paso Robles, CA, and Kenneth Long and wife Jo Ann of Hanford, CA, and one sister-in-law: Bernice (Edwards) Long of Holdenville, OK, plus many other great nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Myrtle was preceded in death by her husband, Lem, in 1987; her parents Albert and Maggie Long; two brothers: Floyd Long and Orby Long; two sisters: Lexie (Long) Watts and Ola Mae (Long) Parmlee. Funeralservices with Rev. Jim Pittman officiating, will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wed. at the Smith & Kernke Funeral Chapel, 1401 N.W. 23rd, with interment in the Arlington Memorial Gardens, Oklahoma City.
