Dr DeJarnette Dies At Ashland
Dr Elliott DeJarnette, 73 died at 12:30 AM today at his home in Ashland after a long illness.
Born at the ancestral home, Spring Grove in Caroline County on July 25, 1873, the second son of the late Elliott and Mrs Alice Coleman DeJarnette. He received his early education at the Bowling Green Academy and then entered the University of Virgina where he received the doctor of medicine degree in 1897.
He married Miss Jane Anderson Tompkins in Richmond on Nov 25, 1896 and in Jan 1898 they moved to Ashland where he practiced medicine for more than 40 years, becoming inactive in recent years due to declining health.
He is survived by his only son, Edmund T DeJarnette, and two grandchildren, Jane Elliott DeJarnette and Edmund T DeJarnette Jr.
