CHASE — Howard Hubbard Jr., 81, died May 27 at Promise Regional Medical Center, Hutchinson. He was born June 25, 1927, at Mitchell, the son of Howard G. and Vada Bernadine Rife Hubbard. He married Nita L. Wright on Jan. 12, 1952, at Ellis. She died Nov. 13, 1997. A longtime Chase resident, he was a retired heavy equipment operator. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving during World War II.
Mr. Hubbard attended Eastwood Church of Christ, Hutchinson.
Survivors include a son, Doug Hubbard of Claflin; a daughter, Billie Redd of Hutchinson; a sister, Yvonne Hill of Lyons; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. A brother, Glen Hubbard, preceded him in death.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Birzer Funeral Home, Lyons, with minister Jimie-Wray Mead officiating. Burial will be at 5 p.m. Saturday in the Ionia Cemetery at Ionia. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until service time Saturday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the Chase First Responders in care of the funeral home.
