Obituary from the "Harrisburg Register," September 16, 1881: The death list in our vicinity had claimed another member this week. On Wednesday morning about t3n o'clock Mrs. Rachael Cannon, wife of J.H. Cannon, of this place, and daughter of William Roark, died after six weeks illness from Typhoid-malarial fever. Mrs. Cannon was a member of the M.E. Church and was known as an excellent Christian lady, and her death will be sadly lamented by a vast number of friends and relatives. She was also a member of the lodge of Ancient Order of United Templar recently organized here. The deceased by her death leaves five motherless children, the oldest of which is probably twelve year of age. She died at the age of about thirty years. The funeral took place yesterday at 10 o'clock, the remains being taken Cottage Grove for burial.
