Meldon E. Jinks, 86, of Rantoul, formerly of Farmer City, died at 8:45 a.m. Sunday (May 25, 2003) at Asta Care Center, Paxton.

He was born Nov. 24, 1916, at Maroa, the son of Jesse and Agnes Bishop Jinks. He married Haydena Smith on Sept. 10, 1939, at St. Louis. She preceded him in death on March 18, 2003.

Survivors include one son, Ronald (Mary) Jinks, Champaign; one daughter, Peggy (Chuck) Fesnaugh, Quincy; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Verda Jones and Virginia Larry, both of Decatur.
