"Carlton Joe Baggett, 55, of Douglasville, GA, died of a heart attack on April 27, 2002 at his home. He was born in 1946, and was a life long resident of Douglas Co. Joe was preceded in death by his father, James C. Baggett and mother, Juanita Matthews Baggett. He is survived by brothers, Jimmy Baggett of Magnolia Springs, AL; and Neal Baggett of Bishop, GA; and several cousins. Joe was a graduate of Douglas County High and State University of West Georgia, with a degree in Journalism. He had been a writer and historian with vast knowledge of Douglas County and Douglasville history. He was publisher of Douglas County, Georgia Genealogy and an active member of several Genealogical and Historical Societies. Joe was recognized in historical circles as a leading expert on DouglasCounty and surrounding area history. A graveside memorial service will be held at 1 pm at Rosehaven Cemetery on Tuesday, April 30, 2002.
