Mr. Blount was born Aug. 27, 1936, in Sulphur Springs; the son of Henry Clyde and Lula Mae White Blount. He was a 1954 graduate of Sulphur Springs High School. He married Cecile Sivley in Greenville on June 8, 1956.
Mr. Blount was employed as director of plant services for Sulphur Springs Independent School District since 1977. He was the former owner and operator of Blount Air Conditioning in Sulphur Springs.
He served in the Texas National Guard. He was a member of and an elder in First Christian Church and a former member of the official board of the church. He was a member of the Texas and National Cushman Clubs.
Surviving are his wife of Sulphur Springs; sons, Terrt Blount of Sulphur Springs and Jon Blount of Mesquite; daughter, Patricia Blount of Paris, Texas; brothers, Nolan Blount and Bill Blount, both of Garland; sister, Cora Cherry of Irving; and six grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant sister and sister, Ruth Patridge.
Pallbearers are Floyd Moss, Jim May, Reece Boocher, Walt Dingman, Billy Gregory and Paul Glover.
Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. today at West Oaks Funeral Home, which is in charge of the arrangements.
