A native of Thomasville, Mo., Mr. Bolton lived in Granite City 32 years. He was retired from Granite City Steel Co. While working in an iron company railway roundhouse in Missouri in 1920, Mr. Bolton narrowly escaped losing his life during a fire. Shortly after he recovered, he came to Granite City. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Ada Bolton; two daughters, Mrs. Adam (Nola Heiney and Mrs. Hershel (Inis) Gann, both of Granite City; two sons, Vernard and Virgil Bolton of Granite City; two sisters, Mrs. Alma Thomason of Esther, Mo. and Mrs. Carrie Carver of Farmington, Mo.; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Mercer Funeral Home, interment at St. John's Cemetery.
