CATHERINE (BARHORST) HOLTHAUS was the daughter of Joseph BARHORST and Maria "Mary" UNKNOWN. Catherine was reared in McLean Township, Shelby County, Ohio. She is found residing with her father, Joseph, and mother, Maria, in the 1870 Census along with siblings: Diana (b abt. 1864) and Theresa (b 1869--6m old). In 1880 she is residing with her widowed father and siblings: Barnardina (appears to be the Diana in the 1870 Census), Theresa, Joseph, Maria, Frank, and Henry.


OBITUARY:
"Mrs. Catherine Holthaus

FT. LORAMIE, Oct. 4 - Requiem high mass will be celebrated in St. Michael's Catholic church at 9 a.m. Friday for Mrs. Catherine Holthaus, 83, a lifelong resident here, who died Monday night in Piqua Memorial hospital. Msgr. Anthony Moeller will officiate and burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Holthaus was born July 26, 1867. She married Frederick Holthaus in 1887 and he died in 1920.

Seven children, Bernard and Joseph Holthaus here, William, at home, Henry, Sidney, Mrs. Theresa Weber, Dayton, Miss Anna, at home; Mrs. Frances Boeke, Ft. Loramie; 28 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Joseph and Frank Barhorst, both of Newport, and a sister, Mrs. Theresa Eilers, Sidney, survive.
