Lois C. Bechdel, 81, of Bellefonte, formerly of Beech Creek, died Saturday, May 30, 2009, at Centre Crest Nursing Home.
She was born in Renovo on April 22, 1928, the daughter of the late Russell "Jacob" and Olive Quay Schenck.
Lois married Daniel Bechdel on Jan. 5, 1944 in Maryland. He died on July 23, 1985.
She was a seamstress for Woolrich and also had been employed by Sylvania, Murata Erie and worked on the family dairy farm.
Lois attended Faith Chapel United Methodist Church, Howard.
She enjoyed playing bingo.
Surviving are a daughter, Bonnie Ann (Ed) McCartney of Howard; three sons, Jerry Allan (Gayle) Bechdel of Howard, Larry Gene "Buck" (Jean) Bechdel of Beech Creek, and Michael Charles (Dottie) Bechdel of Flemington; a brother, Bud Schenck of Virginia; 11 grandchildren, Thomas Jr. and Richard Bechdel, Tammi Ream, Barbara Gardner, Susan Boone, Nancy Nyman, Jerry Bechdel Jr., Rachel Rouser, Daniel and Chad Bechdel and Joanie Brown; and 29 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Thomas Lee, and a granddaughter, Lisa Hall.
The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 2, 2009, at Kader-Neff Funeral Home and Cremation Service Inc., 135 N. Main St., Howard. Pastor Terry N. Daugherty will officiate. Burial will be in Schencks Cemetery, Howard Township, at the convenience of the family. Friends may call at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. today.
