Mary C. Renne, 82, of Cleveland, passed away Saturday, May 30, 2009, at her home following a courageous battle with cancer. Born September 1, 1926, in Syracuse to her late parents, Anthony and Josephine Lizzio, she had attended and graduated from North High School in Syracuse. On June 3, 1947, she married Joseph C. Renne, with whom she had six children. Mary retired from General Electric and Carrier Corp. She was a dedicated volunteer at Cleveland Elementary School in the classroom and the library. Working with the children was a testimony to her caring for others. She is remembered by her children as a loving mother, with the ability to listen and nurture in times of need. Her gift of love and laughter is remembered and treasured by all who knew her. Family was precious to her, and her positive outlook inspired everyone she touched. Mary loved cooking, hosting family reunions, traveling, gardening and sewing, but her greatest passion was her family. Throughout her life she had always been strongly dedicated and committed to her family. She was predeceased by her brother, Thomas Lizzio. Surviving are her devoted husband of 63 years, Joseph C. Renne; her sons, Thomas Renne and wife Esther, Anthony Renne and wife Vicki, Joseph T. Renne and wife Yvonne, and Peter Renne and wife Barbara; her daughters, Mary Paul and husband Jason, and Anne Turk and husband Daniel. Mary was also a loving grandmother to 10 grandchildren, Thomas Renne, Lauren Renne, Andrew Pelletier, Mrs. Katie Polistena, Luke Renne, Daniel Turk, Alexandra Renne, Anthony Renne, Mary Turk and Emily Renne; two brothers, Anthony Lizzio and Patrick Lizzio; a sister, Katherine Prince; and several nieces and nephews. Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday, June 4, 2009, at St. Mary's Church, Lake St., Cleveland, with burial in Maple Flats Cemetery, Cleveland. Calling hours will be 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 3, at WATSON FUNERAL HOME, INC., 631 S. Main St., Central Square. Contributions in lieu of flowers should be made to Hospice of CNY, 990 7th North Street, Liverpool, NY 13088-6148.
