Corinne Bechtel, 86, of Alexandria, died November 22, 2000 at her daughter's home in Clear Lake.
Corinne Amanda Anderson was born December 28, 1913 in Mayville, North Dakota, the youngest child of Knute and Aase Mathea Anderson. she graduated from Grand Forks Central High School and later worked as a beautician. She married Kenneth Bechtel June 19, 1943 at Fort Lewis, Washington. They moved to Alexandria in the late 40s and she resided there until her death.
Corinne was a very creative person and enjoyed making sweaters on her knitting machine. She especially liked taking care of her home and yard and preparing large meals for her family and friends as she was an excellent cook. Her grandchildren remember the fun times they had drinking root beer floats and playing Yahtzee with Grandma. She also did a lot of volunteer work for her church over the years.
Mrs. Bechtel is survived by her daughter, Mary and husband Richard Braun of Clear Lake; son-in-law Mark Kelly and wife Jane of Fargo, North Dakota; seven grandchildren; and one brother, Erling Anderson of Auburn, California.
She was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth, daughter, Julie; two sisters: Ida and Aastha; four brothers: Knute, Ralph, Haakon and Mikkel; four half sisters: Jennie, Hattie, Lillian and Clara; and half brother, Albert.
Mass of Christian Burial was held November 25, 2000 at St. Mary's Catholic Church with Father Al Ludwig officiating. Pallbearers were David Tucker, Keith Anderson, Tony Schneiderhan, Jim Chan, John Perino and Ralph Tillitt. Entombment was at St. Mary's Mausoleum. Services directed by Petermeier's Alexandria Funeral Care.
