Inone May Jones was born on March 27, 1915 in Durant, Oklahoma the oldest of ten
children born to Wallace M. and Naomi (Brune) Morse and passed from this life on
December 5, 2013 in Durant, Oklahoma at the age of 98 years, 8 months and 8
days.
Born in Bryan County, Ione lived in California for many years and married James
T. Jones on May 18, 1967 in Las Vegas, NV. They returned to Durant in 1987.
While living in California, Ione waitressed and worked at the Motel Inn in San
Luis Obispo, California for over 20 years which is the world's oldest motel.
Ione was a member of the 7th and Beech Church of Christ in Durant and she hand
pieced and hand quilted around 150 quilts, she enjoyed canning anything she
could get her hands on, loved to travel and camping, but most of all she dearly
loved and treasured her family.
Ione was preceded in death by her parents Wallace and Naomi Morse; husband James
T. Jones; infant brother; brother Gordon Morse; sisters Pauline Couch, Betty
Wilson and Treba True; grandson Randy Spellacy and great grandson Keith Hendrix.
Services to celebrate Ione's life will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, December 13,
2013 at the 7th and Beech Church of Christ with Bro. John Curtis officiating.
Interment will be in Highland Cemetery with Bobby John Allmon, Bruce Emerson,
Kent Lane, Norman Martignoni, Kenny Lane and Jon Shepard serving as pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to the 7th Beech Church
of Christ 624 West Beech Street Durant, OK 74701.
