Archie Lee Earwood, 81, of Crockett died Thursday, May 21, 2009, at his home. Funeral service was held Sunday, May 24, at 1 p.m. at the Lindsey Funeral Chapel with the Revs. Richard Collins, Doug Stuart and Michael Hoback officiating. Interment was in the King's Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery with American Legion Post 229 of Rural Retreat conducting graveside military rites. He was born Jan. 29, 1928, in Cow Tracks, Texas, son of the late Sterling and Birdie White Earwood. He was a U.S. Marine veteran and a retired trucker with ANR Transportation. Survivors include his wife of 24 years, Mary Hall Earwood of the home; three daughters, Tammy Duncan of Crockett, Necia Earwood and Teresa Cravin, both of Texas; three sons and daughters-in-law, Eddie and Denise Grubb of Max Meadows, Landon and Beverly Earwood, and Marty Earwood, all of Texas; two sisters, Gladys Thomason of Texas and Margie Baxter of California; two brothers and sisters-in-law, J.C. and Billie Earwood, Ray and Hattie Earwood, all of Texas; 17 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. Lindsey Funeral Home in Rural Retreat was in charge of the arrangements.
