He was born on May 14, 1953, in Elkhart to Ernest and Lois (Carl) Slabaugh. He was a 1971 graduate of NorthWood High School. He married Janet Mishler on Dec. 18, 1976, in Nappanee. She survives along with a stepdaughter, Lisa (Dan) Kim of Goshen; two stepgranddaughters, Riley and Sarah Kim; his mother, Lois Slabaugh of Nappanee; a sister, Kim (Dave) Ingle of Nappanee; and a brother, Mike Slabaugh of Nappanee. He was preceded in death by his father, Ernest Slabaugh; a sister, Karole Maust; and two brothers, Danny and Billy Slabaugh.
Mr. Slabaugh was a lifetime resident of Nappanee. He was an auto detailer and had worked at Lochmandy Motors. He was a member of Alcoholics Anonymous and of Trinity Lutheran Church in Goshen.
Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 20, at Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home in Nappanee, where a memorial service will take place at 2 p.m. Pastor John Hickey of Trinity Lutheran Church will officiate. Burial will be in South Union Cemetery.
