Woodrow "Fred" Bower, 96, passed away September 25, 2015 at the Hospital Hospice in Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin.
Fred was born in Chanute, Kansas, the son of Daniel Everett Bower and Laura Lavona (Hodgden) Bower.
He joined the US Army Air Corps in 1942. He served in the European Theater.
He married Betty Arlene Shepherd and had one child, Dr. Robert Bower of Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin. They also had one adopted daughter, Arlene.
Survivors are his son, Bob Bower of Wisconsin; and his daughter Arlene; a step-grandson Joe Novotney; 2 nieces, Lolly (Bower) Stoops of Chanute, Kansas and also of Morgan Hill, CA, and Penny Akridge of Chanute, KS, and 2 nephews, Tony Williams of Lake Ozark, MO, and Ron Brower of Girard, KS
He was preceded by his parents; his wife Betty Arlene; 3 brothers, Daniel E. Bower, Jr, Emmett Bower, and Hugh Bower; and 4 sisters, Goldie Bower, Arletta Bower, Nellie Bower, and Ellen E. Bower and his daughter-in-law, Patti Bower.
Graveside funeral services will be October 5, 2015 at Elmwood Cemetery, Chanute, Kansas.
