Cambridge – Janice Sue Hosfelt, 5-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Hosfelt of near Kimbolton, died Saturday of burns she received late Friday when she was burning newspapers. The child's clothing caught on fire in the yard of the family home on Kimbolton route. Death occurred at 1 a.m. Saturday.
Third degree burns covered her entire body, face, and head, even after her grandfather, Albert Hosfelt, had torn the ignited clothing off when she ran into the house. The grandfather suffered slight burns.
The body was removed to Bundy funeral home and taken to the home Sunday.
Surviving in addition to her parents, Robert and Nelva Beal Hosfelt, are three sisters, Mary Lola, 13, Jean Eileen, 8, Mona Jane, 1; one brother, Robert William, 2; the grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Hosfelt of Kimbolton.
Services will be conducted Tuesday. Burial will be made in Kimbolton cemetery.
