Her parents were Danish immigrant Niels Peter Larsen (1854-1929) and Swiss immigrant Louise Teuscher (1861-1922), who met after they were each assigned by the LDS church, after their arrival in the Utah Territory, to settle in Bear Lake county, Idaho.
She was the eldest daughter and fourth-born of nine siblings. Along with her many siblings, she lived in western Wyoming and southeastern Idaho in her youth. Many of her nieces and nephews eventually moved to Salt Lake City. When her parents were permanently separated (if not divorced) late in life, her mother lived with her in Jerome, Idaho while her father lived with her brother in Salt Lake City.
She moved to Nevada and then to Northern California with her fourth husband who, like her second husband, was a railroad employee.
She was, objectively, the most attractive of the Larsen girls. She was married four times, divorced once, widowed once, then divorced twice more. Her husbands: Wilford Moroni Yorgason (1882-1954), two sons; Andrew Edward Engstrom (1878-1918), three sons; George Lockard Cromer (1880-1949); and Frank Eugene Thomas (1898-1989).
She was survived by three sons: James "Oren" Yorgason of Oakland, California (died 1980); Lloyd Engstrom of Sacramento, California (died 2006); and Charles "Chuck" Engstrom of Yuba City, California (died 1998).
She had six grandchildren, but she was not a beloved grandmother. Only two of her grandchildren, the two grandchildren who never knew her or spent any time with either her, nor spent any time with their birthfather, became grandparents themselves.
Rest in peace, Luella.
