He was born 1-16-1923 in East Mayfield, Sabine County, Texas, to David Henry Vandygriff and Mary Jane Woodard Vandygriff. Visitation for Mr. Vandygriff, better known to his family and friends as Emanuel, Son, Uncle Son or Uncle Vandy, was held at 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 7th at the Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home in Jasper and military graveside services were held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, May 8, 2009, at the Mt. Herman Cemetery in Center, Shelby County, Texas.
A longtime resident of Jasper County, Texas, Emanuel enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a WWII U. S. Army Veteran. He was formerly married to Florine "Crickett" Warr
Vandygriff who preceded him in death. She was the daughter of Ernest G. & Liddie Warr of Center.
Also preceding him in death were four sisters:
