John Q. Allen was born August 19, 1876 to John and Marietta Cullom Allen of Carthage, Tennessee.
He departed this life on October 18, 1946 in Mitchell, South Dakota. He died unexpectedly of a heart attack while he was with a group of friends hunting pheasants.
He was a real estate dealer and a well known citizen of Van Buren.
He was a member of the Episcopal Church.
He was survived by his wife, Mamie Steward Allen; sisters, Mrs. F.G. Kerr and Mrs. Charles Norman of Van Buren and Miss Jennie Allen of Miami, Florida.
Funeral services were held at the Allen Home with Rev. W.B. Miller officiating. Interment was at Fairview Cemetery.
