A 19-year-old Van Buren resident was killed in a two-vehicle collision in Houston Saturday morning. Wendell Gabbard, 19, a student at Southern Bible College of Houston, was killed when his 1972 Ford Maverick collided head-on with a diesel truck driven by Ray Banks, 24, of Houston. Banks was not injured. According to a Houston police report, Gabbard was traveling south on a Houston city street when the collision occurred. Gabbard was a member of the Friendly Pentecostal Church, and a 1976 graduate of Van Buren high School. Survivors include his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ben Gabbard of Van Buren; a sister, Mrs. Nellie Guinn of Van Buren; three brothers, Charles, David and Bennie, all of Houston; and his paternal grandmother, Mrs. R.O. Matlock of Roland. Arrangements are incomplete at Ocker Funeral Home.
