Mary Estel Hills
Mary Estel Hills, 88, of 492 W. Carleton Road, Hillsdale, died Tuesday (Nov. 20, 1983) at the Hillsdale Medical Care Facility after and extended illness.
Mrs. Hills was born July 5, 1895, in Lenawee County, the daughter of James and Hattie Graham Hodges. She lived most of her life in Hillsdale County, where she had worked as a seamstress at the Hillsdale Manufacturing Co.
Mrs. Hills had been a member of the Salvation Army church in Hillsdale and for many years had been the recording secretary for the Ladies' Home League.
In 1919, Mary Hodges was wed to Frank Estel who died in 1957. In 1964 she married Willis Hills, who survives.
Also surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Harold (Dorothy) Baughman of Osseo, three sons, Robert Estel of Hillsdale, Paul Estel of California, and Norman Estel of Niles, 23 grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
The funeral service for Mrs. Hills will be 2 p.m. Thursday at the Salvation Army citadel in Hillsdale, with Lt. Stephen Woodbury officiating. Burial will follow in Lake view Cemetery, Hillsdale. The family will receive friends from 7 until 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Ned M Towns Funeral Home in Morth Adams.
