Ilene Fenix, age 87, Phoenix, Ariz., formerly of Joplin, passed away on Sunday, May 24, 2009, in Phoenix, at a local nursing center. Ilene was born May 29, 1921, in Joplin, daughter of the late Loyd Rosenberry and Anna Belle Ficklin Rosenberry. She graduated from Joplin High School and she and her husband moved to Springdale, Ark., from Joplin in 1976. She worked for J.C. Penney for nearly 20 years before retiring in 1997. She was a member of the N.W. Medical Center Auxiliary in Arkansas, and was also a member of the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Springdale. She moved to Phoenix from Springdale in 2001. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas D. Fenix II who died Oct. 12, 1989; and a son, David Fenix who died in 1984. Survivors include her son, Daniel G. "Gib" Fenix and wife, Jeannie, of Phoenix; daughter-in-law, Julie Fenix, of Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.; a brother, Paul Lee Garrett, of Switzerland; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be Friday, May 29, at 10 a.m. at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery. Ilene requested that memorial contributions be made to First Christian Church of Springdale, to go towards the stained glass windows. Online condolences may be made at parkermortuary.com
