Obituary

John L. Baker entered heaven on May 23, 2009 at the age of 78 years.

He was born in Oklahoma City and graduated from Classen High School at 16 years old. He graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering. He was a member of the University Dance Band and a member of Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity.

Upon graduation from OU, he married Beverly Jean Goudelock and they were married just one week shy of their 56th anniversary at the time of his death.

John served in the U.S. Navy for 2 years active duty retiring in 1975 as a Full Commander after 20 years reserve service. He worked for Carrier Corporation for 27 years before retiring. He relocated to Tulsa from Dallas where he remained active in the air conditioning industry for another 15 years.

John was a Professional Engineer, active member of ASHRAE, founding member and original president of Green Country Walk to Emmaus. John was an active member of Asbury United Methodist Church where he was a member of the Chancel Choir, Ambassador Choir, and Barber Shop Chorus.

He was preceded in death by his father John Wesley Baker and mother Bessie Lou Baker. He is survived by his wife Beverly G. Baker, daughter Marsha Roberts, son-in-law Jack Roberts, son Scott Baker, daughter-in-law Linda Baker, four grandsons Jarrod Roberts, Paul Baker and wife Malisa Baker, Kevin Baker, and Jordan Roberts. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Asbury United Methodist Church choir ministry. Service will be 1:00 P.M., Wednesday, May 27, 2009 at Mason Chapel~Asbury United Methodist Church with interment at Memorial
