Hazel Byrd Stacy, age 80 of Pounding Mill, Virginia, formerly of Pilgrims Knob, Virginia, passed away Tuesday, May 26, 2009 in a Bristol, Tennessee hospital following an extended illness. Born November 24, 1928 in Tazewell County, Virginia she was the daughter of the late Dewey and Mattie Keen Byrd.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Stacy; and one brother, William Campbell Byrd.
She is survived by one daughter, Rita Fay Stacy of Pounding Mill; one brother, Sewell Edward Byrd of Pounding Mill; granddaughter, Julia Meadows; two step granddaughters, Rebecca Watson and Jessica Watson; caregivers, Sharon Stillwell, Carol Stillwell, Wanda Carver, Mae Endicott and Bonnie Keen; several nieces, nephews and a host of friends and neighbors also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, May 30, 2009 at Buchanan Funeral Service Chapel at Keen Mountain, Virginia with Rev. Ancil Childress and Rev. Jack Ward officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenhills Memory Gardens at Claypool Hill, Virginia. Pallbearers will be cousins and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 P.M. Friday at Buchanan Funeral Service at Keen Mountain, Virginia.
