Revolutionary Soldier, Captain during 1780-81 (North Carolina). Though his former rank was Private, by 1780, he was a Captain of Mounted Infantry under Col. Martin Armstrong. Aug. 1781, a Captain under Col. Robert Smith (NC State Legion) and in the Wilmington Expedition. Daniel was known to have served in these battles and skirmishes: Shallow Ford, Raft Swamp, Brick House, and Seven Creeks.

After the war, Daniel served as Major and Brigade Inspector in Laurens County, and as a South Carolina state legislator. Refer to U.S. Pension No. S32616, which states that Daniel and Nancy Wright moved to Madison County, Alabama in 1812.
