On Thursday evening, October 11, 1917, at 8 o'clock, the wedding of Miss Marie Antoinette Anthon, of Baltimore, and the Rev. F. Clyde Helms, of Charlotte, N.C., took place at Hampden Baptist Church. The bride was given in marriage by her father, George F. Anthon.
The Helms family lived in Kentucky and Beauford, SC before moving to Columbia, South Carolina when Rev. Helms was the pastor of the Shandon Baptist Church. Mrs. Helms took an active role as the pastor's wife.
Mrs. Helms died in 1941 after a 4-year illness. She had Christian fortitude, optimism, and cheerful uncomplaining attitude during her years of suffering.
