Acie was born Dec. 25, 1926 in Elmer, Mo. to Pearl and Oma (Ratliff) Gunnels. Acie liked farming and the agriculture business. Acie really enjoyed music and singing. Acie had a wide variety of interests including woodworking, the outdoors, golf, and shooting sporting clays. Acie was a member of the Center United Methodist Church and the Masonic Lodge. Finding jobs for Doug on the farm and spending time with family and friends were also very important to Acie.
His parents and one brother, Ellis, preceded Acie in death. He is survived by his wife Helen of Center; son Doug Gunnels of Center; grandchildren Maddison Marie Gunnels and Syree Lou Gunnels and his sister Doris (BF) Jackson of Monte Vista, Colo.
Funeral services were on Sat., May 2, 2009 at the Ed Sharp Memorial Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to Temple Gate Lodge 128 in care of Strohmayer's Funeral Home, 2067 W. 160, Monte Vista, CO 81144, who were in charge of arrangements.
