AE. 73 years.

"A soldier of the Revolution, he enlisted at the age of 25 and served his country about 4 years. He fought not for honor, he fought not for power, he fought not for laurels, he fought for those rubyes (?) he held so dear."

In February 1777, he enlisted and served for three years as a private in Capt Jonathan Parker's Company, of Col. Charles Webb's Regiment, Connecticut Continental Line; was present and took part in the battles of White Marsh, Monmouth, Stony Point and Yorktown; also in 1782, he again enlisted and served six months as a private in Capt. Richard Sill's Company, Col. Isaac Sherman's Regiment, Fifth Connecticut State Troops and was placed on the pension roll under the Act of 1818.

Parents seem to be William & Dorcas (Chamberlin) Johnson Jr. of Willington, CT.
