In memory of my cousin Ella. Ella Annette Haufle was born July 18, 1884 in Sperry Township, Clayton County, Iowa. She was the daughter of Lucretia and Donatus Haufle and the granddaughter of Caroline (Freeman) and Joseph Bradshaw. Caroline was a younger sister to my great grandmother Elmena Freeman St John. Ella married William Columbus Carpenter on December 8, 1898 at Ness City, Kansas. Her sister Mary Eva married William's brother Wesley Allen Carpenter. Ella and William had two children: Mabel Nona who was born May 1, 1900 at Brownell, Ness County, Kansas; and a child who was born January 5, 1902 and died the next day on January 6, 1902. Ella died on September 19, 1967 at Snohomish, Snohomish County, Washington. Her husband William died February 11, 1962 also at Snohomish. They are both buried in the GAR Cememetery at Snohomish, Washington.
