Henry F. Coburn, age 85, of Kalamazoo, passed away Friday evening, May 22, 2009 at Bronson Methodist Hospital. He was born January 9, 1924 on his family farm in Kalamazoo, the son of Della and Myrtle (Grover) Coburn. On May 21, 1948, Henry was united in marriage to Ione Piper in Climax. His passion was farming, and he was also an avid sports fan; but most of all he loved spending time with his family. He was a self employed farmer during his working years; and in his retirement was employed by Climax-Scotts Public Schools as a bus driver for 12-13 years. Surviving are his wife of 61 years, Ione Coburn; their 5 children, Lou (Jim) Wade of Climax, David (Sally) Coburn of Kalamazoo, Joel (Kim) Coburn of Scotts, Kenneth (Teresa) Coburn of Scotts, and Randy (Linda) Coburn of Climax; 15 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Leota (Stanley) Sunnock of Climax, and Beatrice (Robert) Wigent of Grand Junction, CO; and several nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death are his parents, and 1 brother, Lloyd Coburn. Funeral services for Henry will be at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Climax Chapel, 205 E. Maple Street, with Rev. Mona Joslyn officiating. Interment will follow in Cook Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday (tomorrow) at the funeral home.
