Thomas S. Courtwright, a well known and highly respected citizen, died at his home in Moundsville, W. Va., Monday, February 9, 1920, aged 72 years. His death was due to influenza and pneumonia with which he had been ill for ten days. Mr. Courtwright was a son of James and Mary Throckmorton Courtwright, deceased, and was born in Richhill township, Greene county, Pennsylvania, on August 5, 1848. He followed farming for a number of years. In 1890 Mr. Courtwright was elected county commissioner of Greene county and removed with his family to Waynesburg where they resided for three years. He then removed to Moundsville, W. Va., where he engaged in the hardware business until a few years ago when he retired from active work. He was a director in two banks and had other business interests. He was an active member of the Presbyterian church. Beside his wife, who was formerly Miss Louise Ross, of Wind Ridge, he is survived by four children, Harlan C. Courtwright, of Eastland, Texas; Mrs. Frank (Iva) Potts, of Columbus, O.; Mrs. Evan (Cora) Roberts, of Moundsville, W. Va., and Miss Etta Courtwright, at home.
